letter cards and sight words

I've worked on 2 very simple activities - letter cards (lower and upper case) in 3 styles, as well as a round-robin game for the preprimer sight word list using a butterfly theme.

I purposefully did 3 different sets of the letter cards so they could be used in a small group or to leave in a literacy work station.  They are color-coded, making it easy to sort into baggies.

I've enjoyed creating (and finding!) different sight word activities this summer.  By the second semester of first grade, many of the children are able to do activities on their own (or with limited assistance), especially when you play the game with them during the first semester.  All of the sight word games I've created can be played in small groups.

The first 5 to comment on this post will get both of these activities free!  Please be sure to leave your email address so I can get it to you.  These activities have been added to my TpT store.

A Monday Freebie!

Happy Monday Morning!
Compound words are taught over ... and over ... and over ... again.  These compound word cards are designed to reinforce this skill.  There are 2 different games, or combine all the cards together for one game.

My goal this week is to work on our family scrapbook.  I am WAY behind and I'm itching to get some of it done while I have the time!

Blessings,

Sarah

Vacation!

I got back yesterday from a week long trip to Pennsylvania ... a couple days with my cousin and her family in Elizabethtown and then to Philadelphia.  In the Elizabethtown area, we went to Hershey's Chocolate World and to the Turkey Hill Experience, before driving through Amish country and visiting farms.  In Philadelphia, we went to Independence Hall and the Constitution Center, as well as the Liberty Bell and Valley Forge. It was a wonderful time away!

I never stop looking for books for my classroom library!

But now on for other things ... here's some 5 and 10 frames that I use for my math wall.
Click on the image to purchase them from my TpT store, but the first three to comment will get this for free!  Please be sure to leave your email address so I can get these to you!

Number Sense work station and a freebie!

Since my husband's been busy working this weekend, I've had some time to create several new activities for the fall.  Our math series introduces number sense the first week of school.  This freebie focuses on this skill, which can be used as a part of your daily math review, Math Wall, or a math work station.  You could put the pieces in a pocket chart, or (my favorite) place magnets on the back of each piece.  My air conditioner unit, as well as my dry erase and blackboards are all magnets, which make activities like this simple to use.  Click here to get this freebie!  The 4 pictures below are from this packet.

The next activity expands on number sense through 10, by going up to 50.  The activities are similar in the freebie unit, with number cards, and fill in the missing number.  Our first graders are also required to count by 10s and 5s, so there are additional number cards for each up to 200.  You can find this activity by visiting my TpT page.

This unit will be on Manic Mondays at Classroom Freebies!
