Winter Freebie!

I am so thankful that I have another week off before returning to school.  This has been the year of illness!  Since starting Christmas break, I have had an ear infection, upper respiratory infection, and battling dehydration, in addition to the continued abdominal pains that started mid-October.  I have an appointment for that this week.  I'm glad that I can sleep in this week and take it easy!

I am previewing a couple of new additions to my TpT store.

The first is There Was a Cold Lady Who Swallowed Some Snow mini packet.  Included are word and picture cards (large enough for whole class use), smaller picture cards to sequence and glue onto construction paper, writing/drawing activity, word/picture cut and paste activity, and word search. Click HERE to get this packet.

And now my winter alphabetical order packet.  It includes 2 different sorting activities - the first does not have any first letter repeats, but the second set requires children to alphabetize to the second letter.  Included is a cut/sort/paste activity.  Click HERE to grab your packet.

And now for a freebie!  My firsties love coloring activities and I love it even more when they are learning or reviewing along with it!  Here are 4 sight word coloring pages.  Click HERE to grab yours!

Donors Choose & Christmas Graphing Freebie

I received an email Sunday evening that my project for Donors Choose has been approved!  This image is from their website of my project.  I would love some help in getting the word out!  Until December 16th, anytime a donor includes the word INSPIRE while checking out, that dollar amount will be matched!
We are working on our graphing unit this week.  Firsties love graphing, but to have the unit just before Christmas, it is so fun!  We started Monday off with a graph of our lunch choices (we have lunch just before our math block).  We tallied our choices and discussed what we saw, then I had the kiddos head back up to the board and they quickly shaded in a block for their category.
Many of my materials are of creating graphs, but the Virginia standards state the children need to analyze the data.  This is what I came up with.  The graphing packet includes 4 graphs (as pictured below), 4 blank graphs (for you to collect your own data and complete), and a page of questions for each graph.  Click HERE to purchase.
I have a Christmas freebie for you!  Click HERE to get the Favorite Christmas Candy graphing pages from the graphing packet!  I only ask that you COMMENT that you grabbed a set!

I am working away on activities for January - I want to be able to print, laminate, and cut before leaving for Christmas break! :)  Here's a couple of pictures of my Snowman Roll, Read, and Cover games.  You can get them HERE.  The packet includes 15 game boards, with 30 words on each board.  The words come from the Dolch noun word list.

For any who leave a second comment (remember, the first comment is if you grabbed the graphing activity!) with an email address, I'll send you this packet for free!  You have until Thursday 9PM (EST)!

Mrs. Claus on a vacation??

I recently purchased Mrs. Claus Takes a Vacation.  We read this very cute story this week in class and completed a writing activity.  Click the picture or HERE to get a copy for your classroom.

After reading the story, the children shared where they would like to go with Mrs. Claus if they could take a vacation together.  They came up with an amazing list!

the writing assignment

our writing in the hallway
"We would go to China.  We would eat China food.  We would play China games."
"We would go to Haiti.  We would help the kids if they are sick and take toys."

One of my reading/word study groups is working on beginning digraphs.  I have 4 lists: (1) c/h/th; (2) t/h/th; (3) s/h/sh; and (4) w/h/wh.  Each list has several sight words (note: many of these sight words are difficult to find an image to accompany) and each list has a word search using most of the words.  Click HERE to grab the freebie!  PlEaSe leave a comment if you download the digraph activity so I know how many are grabbed!

Currently & Christmas Freebie!

Today I am linking up with Farley at Oh Boy 4th Grade for December's Currently!
I just love this time of the year, with the music, lights, and excitement in the air!  With just coming from the Thanksgiving season, I am once again reminded how blessed I am and how very little I actually need!  It truly is a blessing to give to someone else instead of receiving!  Click HERE for more Currentlys!

A Christmas present for YOU!  Each month we do a syllable and alphabetical order activity using themed words for that month.  Since there are so many fun words for December, I created an extra ABC order activity as a freebie!  {Click HERE for my full December packet, which includes a word wall, picture puzzles, many word work activities, word problems, roll/add/and cover game boards, and cards to play contraction concentration.}
