VA is for Book Lovers!

I am thrilled to be joining my fellow Virginia bloggers for a blog hop that embraces our love of reading! Each of us is happy to share a book and resource that we LOVE to use in the classroom for this very special hop. Not only that, but you'll find a book giveaway on each page of the hop, with a super huge giveaway at the end!

My love for reading comes naturally.  I remember sitting especially with my mom and grandma and a pile of books.  Summers meant endless trips to the library to explore and be involved in the various activities.  

As a teacher, I have a sickness ... a book purchasing sickness, that is.  I cannot leave Barnes & Noble empty-handed!  My bookshelves are stuffed full of books ... some I allow my students to touch and others are hands off!

I LOVE the "Old Lady" books that accompany the different holidays.  With St. Patrick's Day coming, I wanted to share There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Clover!, by Lucille Colandro.  Her books are perfect for story recall and sequencing, as it repeats throughout the book.

Getting Festive for Fall with the Virginia Bloggers

Your freebie is a Halloween subtraction unit.

We have student choice math centers on Fridays.  One of my new favorite activities are clip cards.  I have some support during my math lessons, so when clip cards come out, any adult walking into my room knows exactly how to help!

There are 6 pages of clip cards (one page is shown below), totaling 36 cards.

 I have also included 2 subtraction I Spy printables.  Just print and go!  Provide the children with a magnifying glass and they will be set!  Answer keys are included.

Five for Friday {July 18}

It's time for

Our 11th anniversary was Saturday!  We celebrated by driving home from visiting Josh's family for 10 days!  With Josh's work schedule, it's been nice to see him a lot more this summer.

I watched our littlest niece and nephews one night this week so my sister and BIL could check out some houses with their realtor.  Micah, the youngest, is having trouble sleeping, so I had wonderful snuggles with him!

Virginia bloggers met up in Richmond on Wednesday!  Here I am with Andrea, from Reading Toward the Stars!

I shopped with my sister-in-law last week at Hobby Lobby.  Since we don't have a HL here, I tried to think through many gifts, holidays, birthdays, crafting projects, etc so I could get what I thought I may need!  One of my favorite purchases is the wrapping paper and bows pictured here!  So festive!

When wandering around Barnes & Noble yesterday, this notebook "jumped" out at me!  Like many other teachers, I have owls all around my room and friends from school have texted me with owl things they see in various stores!
